第27回TTCバイオカフェを開催しました。

The 27th TTC Bio-Café was held on Friday, December 7th, 2018.

演題：「感染症予防を目指した紙の顕微鏡「フォールドスコープ」〜世界中の好奇心を拡大するコミュニティ作り〜」

スピーカー：井嶋穂実先生（米国パロアルトFoldscope Instruments. Inc.）

この催しは、専門学校東京テクニカルカレッジ（TTC）主催、特定非営利活動法人くらしとバイオプラザ21共催により行われました。

バイオカフェは、午後6時、東京テクニカルカレッジ1階のテラカフェ（TeraCafe）にて始まりました。はじめにファシリテーターの佐々義子先生からバイオカフェの趣旨説明がありました。続いて野崎喜歩様が、ハープの音楽演奏により、和やかな会場の雰囲気をつくってくれました。

The bio-café started at 18:00 in TeraCafe on the 1st floor of Tokyo Technical College.
First, Dr. Yoshiko Sassa, the facilitator of the event, explained the concept of the bio-café, and Ms. Yoshiho Nozaki helped create a relaxed atmosphere with a musical performance on the herp.

井嶋先生が、顕微鏡の歴史や紙の顕微鏡がなぜ作られたかの話をしてくださいました。紙の顕微鏡Foldscopeは、スタンフォード大学のParkash先生により、感染症の診断を目指した安価な顕微鏡として開発されました。次に、参加者が、Foldscopeを使ってサンプルの観察をやってみました。

Honomi spoke about the history of microscopes and why the paper microscope was developed. The paper microscope “Foldscope” was developed by Dr. Parkash in Stanford University as an inexpensive microscope 　　for the diagnosis of infectious diseases. Next, the participants had a go at looking at some samples 　        　using “Foldscope”.

会場は、TTC1階のカフェテリア（TeraCafe）です。そこは、クリスマスの雰囲気です。
The venue is the cafeteria (TeraCafe) on the 1st floor of TTC.
